How much can a carpenter make?

A Canadian garage mechanic is working on an unusual project to help him pay for a new, smaller car.

Matt Gagnon, who’s based in Calgary, says he recently bought a 2002 Honda CR-V, which he says will only fit on his garage floor.

But he’s not sure how much he can afford to pay for it.

“I’ve been trying to figure out what the heck I can afford for it and I’m having a hard time,” said Gagnons mother, Carol.

“It’s the cheapest car I’ve ever owned, so I’ve been doing the best I can with it.”

Gagnon says he had a rough go of it in buying the car, which has been sitting in his garage for more than a decade.

“A lot of times the people who are going to buy cars are not the people that are going buy cheap cars, so that’s kind of what I’ve come up with,” he said.

“And the car is not a lot of money to me.”

Carborating in a garage is a challenging job, with a few tools required to make everything fit.

“There are a lot things that you have to be able to fix and make things to be safe and be nice,” he explained.

But the garage is just the first step in a new project that’s about to take shape.

“We’re trying to make a couple of small houses that are actually able to fit in there, that are functional,” said Carol.

So far, they’re working on a wooden frame to hold the car.

And the garage door is one of the first things to go.

“This is a very simple project, I don’t have a lot going on.

We have to take some time to figure it out and figure out how to do it properly,” said Matt GagnON.”

When I’m at home, I do everything from the garage to the garage and I just take care of it,” said his mother.

Matt has built the garage out of wood, which is what his father did when he was a young man.

“He was a car mechanic,” said Todd Gagnón.

Todd says he’s learned a lot from his father.

“My father taught me that you never know when you’re going to need to put something down.

So when we were at home we would put down everything we could and he would say ‘that’s not going to be needed for a few days’.”

Todd says the garage project is one he plans to continue, with an eye to his son’s future.

“The garage is always a place to be, that’s always a great place to do something new,” said the elder Gagnonis.

“What’s great about this garage is it’s going to go on forever, so it’s not gonna go out of style,” he added.
